Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about care with an upper cervical chiropractor at Ocean View Migraine and Chiropractic Center in Ocean View, DE. Have a question that isn’t listed here? Call us at 302-319-5111.

What is the Atlas Orthogonal Technique?

Atlas Orthogonal is a precise upper cervical chiropractic technique that focuses on the atlas, the top bone of the spine. A percussive sound wave instrument restores proper alignment, which can improve blood flow and nerve function between the brain and body. Dr. DePollar is Delaware’s only CCAO-certified Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor.

Does the adjustment hurt? Is there cracking or popping?

No. The adjustment is gentle and low-force, with no twisting, snapping, cracking or popping. Most patients feel little more than light pressure behind the ear.

What conditions do you treat?

We focus on head and neck conditions, including migraines and chronic headaches, neck pain, vertigo and dizziness, TMJ, tinnitus, whiplash, concussion, occipital neuralgia, and POTS and dysautonomia.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first appointment takes about 45 minutes to an hour and includes a detailed evaluation. The second visit runs 30 to 45 minutes, and routine follow-ups take only 5 to 10 minutes.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on your symptoms and goals. Some patients do well with short-term care, while others choose ongoing visits to maintain their results. Dr. DePollar will build a plan that fits your needs.

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance often doesn’t cover specialized upper cervical techniques like Atlas Orthogonal, so we don’t bill insurance directly. We do give every patient a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. How much you get back depends on your own plan and its out-of-network benefits. I’ve had chiropractic care before. Is this different?

Yes. Many of our patients come to us after trying traditional chiropractic or other treatments, and they notice the difference in precision and comfort.

Do you accept walk-ins? What are your hours?

We’re appointment-only; walk-ins aren’t accepted. Hours are Monday and Wednesday 9:30 to 1 and 3 to 6, Thursday and Friday 9:30 to 3, and select Saturdays by appointment. Online video consultations are also available. Book online through Jane or call 302-319-5111.
