Gentle Upper Cervical Care for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in Ocean View, DE
Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of inherited connective tissue disorders. The most common type is hypermobile EDS (hEDS). Because the body’s connective tissue is more lax, joints can move too much and feel unstable, including the joints at the top of the neck. Many people with EDS also live with chronic neck pain, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, jaw pain, and POTS or other forms of dysautonomia.
Why the Upper Neck Matters
Your head is held on top of your spine by a small group of ligaments around the atlas, the first bone in your neck. When those ligaments are more lax, the atlas can shift out of position more easily. This can add strain to the surrounding muscles, nerves, and blood vessels, and may contribute to neck pain, headaches, dizziness, and symptoms that overlap with dysautonomia.
Why a Gentle Approach Matters
Many people with EDS have been told to avoid chiropractic care, and for good reason: traditional twisting or high-force neck adjustments are generally not recommended for hypermobile necks.
Atlas Orthogonal is different. There is no twisting, cracking, or popping. You lie comfortably on your side while a precise, low-force instrument delivers a gentle adjustment based on careful measurements. That makes it an option for many patients who need a gentler approach.
